The Society for Technical Communication (STC) is a professional organization dedicated to the advancement of the field of technical communication, and the Central New York Chapter is a local community that supports this mission. STC CNY has Syracuse as its home base but extends across much of Upstate New York.
Just how vast is the STC CNY region? Our reach extends to Albany, Auburn, Fulton, Oswego, Watertown, Canton, Little Falls, Cooperstown, Cobleskill, Amsterdam, Norwich, Greene, Corning, Cortland, Binghamton, Johnson City, Elmira, Ithaca, Otsego, Owego, Oneida, Oswego, Utica, Clinton, Sherrill, Rome, and surrounding areas. In fact, in addition to people in the Greater Syracuse area, our membership has included technical communicators from Albany, Ithaca, Rochester, Canastota, Rome, Utica, Oswego, Greene, Geneva, Auburn, and Phelps.
For STC CNY, 2018 has been a year of rebuilding. The chapter nearly folded at the end of 2017, but intense, enthusiastic recruitment has helped the chapter turn things around. Membership increased by over 1,000% in 2018, and excitement is high as we map out a new direction. Go to our Events page to review the successful events we’ve hosted as well as upcoming programs. We try to schedule events every 6 to 8 weeks but anticipate increasing their frequency as membership and interest grow. STC CNY events are either free or significantly subsidized for chapter members, but all are welcome!
If you aren’t a member of STC, join today and choose the Central New York Chapter as a community. If you’re already a member of STC, consider adding the CNY Chapter to your membership and enjoy the benefits of a local technical communication network.
